Protest Lounge at Except in the Unlikely Event of War: A place to hang out before and after the show, have a drink, share ideas and enjoy series of short performances and talks.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It's FREE! Once you’ve seen the play, you can come back and enjoy the lounge for the rest of the run (as long as you bring your ticket stub).
WHERE IS IT?
The Roundhouse Exhibition Hall (181 Roundhouse Mews), outside the theatre.
Sunday matinees and Tuesday evenings – CAST TALKBACKS
Have any burning questions for the director, cast or playwright? You have a few opportunities.
Thursdays (November 21st and 28th) – RANT FOR A BEER!
Step up on the lounge stage to rant, rave, wax poetic, give us an earful about politics, the economy, the environment or the state of society (for 1-3 minutes) and we’ll give you a free beer (Note: You must elicit a big laugh, angry jeer, or round of applause from the crowd).
Thursday November 28th – SPECIAL GUEST ROUNDTABLE
Stick around for an in-depth conversation about Canada’s relationship with China, and pose your questions to experts on the subject. Stay tuned as we reveal the identity of our special guests. Hosted by playwright Sean Devine.
Fridays (November 22nd and 29th) – TWO APPLE TOBACCO
Jess and Dan play acoustic Rock-slash-Jazz-slash-R&B with a political bent.
Saturday November 16th – OPENING NIGHT WITH DJ FANE
Join us after the show for refreshments as DJ Fane rocks the boat.
Saturday November 23rd – DOGTOOTH MOUNTAIN STRING BAND
Killer local bluegrass-roots!
Saturday November 30th - CLOSING NIGHT WITH THE ROSSI GANG
This five-piece jazz outfit, featuring members of local favorite The Bank Dogs, is generating a lot of buzz. Join us for a party to celebrate closing night!
Frustrated with our government or our citizens? Disenfranchised? Throughout the run there will be stationary available on the lounge tables. Write a letter to Canada and hang it up in the Protest Lounge to air your grievances.
