We're pleased to offer two sneak peeks of After the Quake - they're both free, so come check them out!

Monday, October 26, doors open from 7:00pm-8:30pm
Drop in and hear the cast of After the Quake at an open rehearsal at the Nikkei Centre, 6688 Southoaks Crescent, Kaede Room (Room 210). (The Nikkei Centre is just a few blocks from the Edmonds Skytrain station.)

Friday, October 30, at 7:00pm
Stop in at the Chapters at Broadway and Granville to hear the cast of After the Quake read a scene from the show, and pick up a copy of Murakami's collection of stories while you're there!

Pi Theatre is looking for emerging artists who might be interested in participating in our Prime Placements program. This year, we will be offering several placements as part of our production for HIVE 3, which will take place from March 11-20 at The Centre for Digital Media. We are currently looking for artists to fill the following roles:
- costume designer
- lighting designer
- set designer
as well as a Technical Director, and possibly a projection designer (this last is subject to grant funding which is not yet confirmed).

Haruki Murakami's acceptance speech for the Jerusalem Literary Prize has some interesting things to say about art and politics:

I have come to Jerusalem today as a novelist, which is to say as a professional spinner of lies.

Of course, novelists are not the only ones who tell lies. Politicians do it, too, as we all know. Diplomats and military men tell their own kinds of lies on occasion, as do used car salesmen, butchers and builders.
