Pi just went on tour! This past weekend, our production of Between the Sheets by Jordi Mand traveled to Victoria, BC. We were welcomed in by George Jay Elementary School (currently working out of Richmond Elementary School), and loved re-creating Miss Stewart's classroom once again. We're thrilled we were able to work on Between the Sheets once again, and we hope that we get the chance to tour it again sometime soon. Where do you think we should tour to next?
As many of you know, in 2009 it was decided that adult arts and cultural organizations would no longer be eligible for funding through Gaming grants. Pi was just finishing the last year of a three year commitment from Gaming as the cuts were announced. Between Gaming eligibility changes and cuts to the BC Arts Council, Pi lost over 20% of our funding between 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. The past two years have been undeniably challenging. We've been incredibly fortunate in our fundraising, and are hugely grateful for our amazing community of supporters for helping us get through.
Thanks to The Art of the Business for the mention of our blog in their rundown of Vancouver theatre companies in the interwebs. It's also exciting to see the growing number of companies using Twitter - we're definitely interested to see how our Twitter connections differ from those we have through Facebook.
Pi held its 2007-2008 AGM on Monday, November 10th, and it was a fantastic event. We crammed a few dozen people in our office, shared the successes and challenges of the 2007-2008 season, elected 3 new board members, and enjoyed yummy treats generously donated by Rocky Mountain Flatbread and La Baguette et l’echalotte. Thanks to everyone who came out and shared their enthusiasm for Pi—we can’t wait to see you at our first show!
If you missed the AGM and are sad sad sad, you can still get your membership and join our mailing list so you stay in the loop.
