SUBMISSIONS FOR 2021-22 SERIES DUE: 11:59pm PST on SEPTEMBER 28, 2021

SUBMISSIONS FOR 2023-24 SERIES DUE: 11:59pm PST on OCTOBER 12, 2021

ARE YOU A PROVOCATEUR?

Pi Theatre is looking for established and emerging theatre and performance makers to submit to the Provocateurs Series. We’re looking for artists working in theatre, dance, performance art, digital performance, and all yet-to-be named forms of performance; for artists who see themselves as risk takers; who have an audacious artistic voice (through content and form, or one or the other); for artists who believe in theatre’s capacity to provoke conversations and emotions.

We are particularly interested in supporting 1) artists who work in non-traditional/alternative spaces outside of institutions and 2) artists based in British Columbia. However, neither of these criteria are mandatory; we want to hear about you and your work regardless of where you practice or present your work. We welcome and encourage submissions from members of marginalized, underserved, and underrepresented communities. We want to hear from you! If there are any barriers preventing you from applying, please contact us and we will work alongside you to work something out.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
  • We are looking for performance projects to support and present between Fall 2021 up to our 2023-2024 season.  To be considered for our upcoming 2021-22 series, the deadline to submit is September 28, 2021. To be considered for the following series, the deadline to submit is October 12, 2021.
  • Projects can be either fully developed or still in development with the goal of being completed before 2023.
  • Projects can be of any length.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
  • CV and Biographies of artist(s) who are key to your project
  • A Statement of Interest (letter or video)—2 pages max / 3 minutes max.
  • Points to consider when writing/recording your statement of interest are:

              - What is your project?

              - What ideas, emotions, questions are you trying to provoke through your project?

              - How do the form and/or content of your project fit with the values of Provocateurs?

  • Any sort of supplementary materials that will help us understand your project, such as video documentation, photos, text, sounds, outline, etc.
