Erin Shields’s Beautiful Man is a razor-sharp satire that hilariously skewers the tropes of female characters in film and TV.” – Samantha Edwards, Now Toronto

From Governor General’s Award winning playwright Erin Shields, an eviscerating satire of gender roles in popular culture, Beautiful Man imagines a world in which women are the subjects and men the objects. As three women dissect the latest Hollywood blockbuster, narrative after narrative of strong female characters fold into each other, fusing into a brutally recognizable story.

Funny, biting and nuanced, the play not only mocks the media’s representation of women, it exposes the underlying violence of objectification with sharp wit.

“Beautiful Man may leave you uneasy, but it resonates with our times.” J. Kelly Nestruck, The Globe and Mail

“both horrifying and very, very funny” – Ilana Lucas, Mooney on Theatre
